The Anglican Church of Burundi was blessed during the month of September as the number of clergy increased with the ordination of Pastors and Deacons in Muyinga and Matana dioceses.

One Pastor and seventeen deacons were ordained in Matana Diocese by the Most Rev. Bernard Ntahoturi, Bishop of Matana, a week after the ordinations in Muyinga diocese.

The Bishop of Bujumbura, the Rt. Rev. Eraste Bigirimana who preached at the service, urged the newly ordained to rely on the faithfulness of Christ who had called them.

He stressed that the ministry to which they are called is difficult without the strength of the Holy Spirit but assured them that God would provide the strength they need to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God and bring others to Christ.

“Compassion, wisdom, humility, faith and good behaviour are the characteristics that must be seen throughout your life”, said Bishop Eraste.

Many guests attended the ceremonies amongst them Bishops of the Anglican Church of Burundi, present and former government representatives, and representatives from other Christian organizations.

Hon. Anicet Niyongabo speaking on behalf of the Government of Burundi presented the gratitude of the government towards the Anglican Church of Burundi for its contribution to the development of the country and especially for its support of the community.
