HOUSE OF BISHOPS' STATEMENT

The Province of the Anglican Church of Burundi has been dismayed and disappointed as the Synod of the Church of England has approved the proposals made by the Anglican Bishops of England to celebrate same-sex marriage.

In a press release made public on Tuesday, the House of Bishops stated that it does not take responsibility for this decision contrary to the Holy Scriptures which are the pillar of the Anglican Church. The Anglican Bishops of Burundi sympathize with all those from England and throughout the world wide who are in disarray following this decision.

The Province of the Anglican Church of Burundi will always uphold and never waver from the divine principle of marriage which is the union between one man and one woman, as defined by the Word of God and as clearly stated by the Lambeth Conference resolution 1.10 held in 1998; stressed the House of Bishops.

The Anglican Bishops of Burundi specifies that the only Church of England is fully accountable of that decision and doesn’t engage the whole Anglican Communion.

The Anglican Bishops of Burundi urge the leadership of the Church of England to reconsider this decision which departs from the true Gospel and the Anglican doctrine.
